The green oasis in the middle of the Karst region with the white beauties, the Lipizzaner horses, is a real paradise to enjoy, explore and admire local curiosities and unforgettable natural beauties. A herd of nearly 300 Lipizzaners is really something to feast your eyes on. The classical riding school and important international dressage tournaments will certainly capture your attention.

You can also enjoy carriage rides in the beautiful countryside. The Karst landscape, the famous caves, vineyards and stone architecture, the gallery of the painter Avgust Černigoj and the various entertainment programs will fill up your day, while you can also relax and build new business relationships at the attractive golf course in Lipica.

Štanjel

Štanjel is one of the oldest and most picturesque villages of the Karst region and with its geographical position it always played an important role, from as early as the early Iron Age. The village developed in the Romantic era and it is regarded as an outstanding cultural and historical monument. The village  fiercely resists the passing of time, it attracts us and invites us.

Škocjan caves regional park

The caves are protected as part of the natural and cultural heritage and are included in UNESCO's list of World's Natural and Cultural Heritage sites. Intact nature, underground tunnels with stalactites, the wild Reka river, that pushed its way through the underworld, are all part of an unforgettable experience.

Vilenica cave

It was one of the first caves in Europe to be opened to the public. Until the middle of the 19 th century it was considered as one of the largest, most beautiful and most visited caves of the Karst region. According to local tradition, people believed that is was inhabited by fairies. Its name derives from the Slovenian word "vile", which means fairies. An international literary award is also called “Vilenica”.

Lokev – the tabor war museum

The defence tower was built in 1485 in order to protect local people from Turkish invasions. Today it hosts a museum with an exhibition of weapons and uniforms from 1780 to 1990.

Postojna cave

The mysterious underworld of the Postojna cave, which was excavated, formed and weaved by water, conceals a beautiful scenery that has been created through million years, drop by drop, year by year. You can visit a 20 km long series of dry and watery galleries, and you can observe the "Proteus" which lives in this untouched underground realm.
